Introduction
Stranger is a sound art project by London-based artist, composer and musician Matthew Ward. As of 2026, his work has included an album, international radio broadcasts, a film soundtrack and an art installation.
Stranger
Merging composition with social documentary, Stranger samples interviews and street recordings collected from chance encounters around the UK and Europe.
The project explores street photography, surveillance, psycholinguistics and audio description.
